Should We Be Worried About the Farmers' Protests Around the World?
When the farmers in the Netherlands hit the streets and spray their cops with manure the whole world, starts paying attention. The European Union has created some crazy regulations around nitrogen emissions, and the Dutch government, in order to maintain these regulations, has come up with some harsh proposals that would lead to farmers giving up 1/3 rd of their farming operations or selling their lands.
Remember, the EU as well as their guidelines are a bit eccentric (though they like to think of themselves as the most civilized community in the world). This is how eccentric they are; they started both world wars, and they have guidelines around the bananas and cucumbers they sell in the markets. If the bananas and cucumbers do not meet a certain measurement, they can't be seen in the market (don't believe me? check this out). If this was the case for bananas, imagine how they would measure humans. The popularity of Nazisim amounts the Germans is not that puzzling anymore eh?

Back to the farming situation, the Dutch farmers are doing better than their counterparts in Sri Lanka and other parts of the world in bringing awareness to farmer issues, and these farmer protests are popping up all around the globe. Guess it takes Europe to lead the way, as always. Well, somehow when the white populations of the world suffer, the suffering becomes more real. The Punjabis in India did a great job last year (2021) too in rallying up all the Punjabis all over the world to support them. Well, there are quite a lot of Punjabis all over the world.

Governments everywhere seem to be on a mission, imposing taxes and bans on issues that affect the farmers' livelihood, and their reason to do this is to fight climate change and save humans from consuming poison. While these issues are legit, what really seems to be happening is that these measures are causing farmers to sell their lands, and guess who is likely the ones to be buying it. Of course those with money, and who has the money? Not people, not individuals; it is only legal fiction called corporations who have the money to do so: Bill Gates is out there buying all the farmlands he can get his hands on.
Doesn't sound too bad for those of us, whose only relationship with food is to buy weekly groceries from multi-million dollar franchise supermarkets. All that the people in power seem to be doing is eliminating the middlemen (who in this case are themselves) and becoming the source of the products themselves.
During the pandemic, a number of entrepreneurs began to find success by connecting the consumers directly to the suppliers through apps such as GrubMarket and Fresh World. A bunch of new ones was on the rise too. The big dogs probably felt a bit insecure about losing control over the food industry.
Where this gets scary for us grocery shoppers is that these powerful legal fictions do not care for people as much as they do for their own profit. They don't care if the middle and lower classes consume dangerous chemicals, their track records prove this. So, to think that these legal fictions are somehow going to change their ways in this super profitable scenario is very naive of us.
But, we are the people and we have shown time and time again that we can be fooled all the time. We do not care for farmer protests, we do not care for chemicals in our food and cigarettes. We do not care for much, to be honest. These farmers can protest all they want, but we know they will lose and we will always remain obedient to those who manipulate us.
